NATURE LED JOURNEYS, ROOTED IN PRACTICE & PLACE

Embark on journeys into sacred landscapes, where nature, connection, and wisdom come alive.

Where the land holds you,

and the practice brings you home.

Not Just a Retreat — A Return

A return to stillness, to nature, to the parts of yourself that modern life asks you to forget.

Born from years of quiet exploration, these journeys are rooted in lived experience, walking forest trails in the Himalayas, sharing chai with elders, tracing the coastline barefoot at dawn, and uncovering moments that can’t be Googled - only felt.

Imagine meditating in a 2,000-year-old stone temple at Kasar Devi, one of only three places on Earth where the rare Van Allen Belt, said to heighten spiritual energy, touches ground...

Sipping rhododendron tea, brewed from an exotic cherry-blossom flower in the mountains…

Or filming ripples on the ocean, guided by a National Geographic filmmaker, as the sun sets over a wild Goan cliffside.

These aren’t fantasies, they’ve been lived. And your journey will carry its own kind of magic.

Each retreat is shaped by people who know the land intimately and held by facilitators who lead with presence and care. Whether it’s a Himalayan pilgrimage or a coastal storytelling retreat, you’ll walk ancient paths, create with intention, and reconnect with the quiet wisdom that lives both around and within you.

This is sacred travel — not just to breathtaking places, but to the deeper landscapes of your own being

PAST JOURNEYS

The Wild Storyteller: South Goa, India

3 Nights, 4 Days | February 2026

Tucked between forested cliffs and the sea, Cabo Serai gave us a wilder, quieter side of South Goa. Far from the crowds, closer to nature. The ocean in the background, birdsong through the trees, and a rhythm that felt light, playful, and easy. Ocean swims in the morning, long walks along cliffside trails, red earth under our feet, and those small unexpected moments that stayed with us.

At times it honestly felt like we had stepped into a wildlife documentary. Langurs in the trees, flashes of peacock blue in the distance, and that feeling of being completely immersed in the natural world. Days unfolded through creativity, storytelling, and slow conversations that stretched longer than planned. Sunset art sessions, shared meals, barefoot dinners by the beach.

With daily yoga, nature walks, and storytelling sessions with filmmaker and National Geographic Explorer Eshika Fyzee, the space opened up for connection, expression, and play.

What stays with us most are the people. How strangers become friends over swims, stories, and sunsets. And how a few days together can feel far more expansive than they should.

The Heart of Kasar: Kasar Devi, Uttarakhand

7 Nights, 8 Days | March 2026

Perched on a quiet ridge in the Kumaon Himalayas, Kasar Devi has long drawn seekers, artists, and wanderers. From Swami Vivekananda to Bob Dylan, George Harrison, and Steve Jobs, many have spent time here, held by something they couldn’t quite explain. There is a stillness to this place. A kind of quiet that gently invites you inward.

In October 2025, we hosted our first 7 night journey here. Walking forest trails, visiting hidden shrines, and settling into the rhythm of the mountains. Days unfolded through meditation, sound healing, and Qi Gong with Tanya, along with simple moments that stayed with us long after.

We returned again in March 2026, and Kasar revealed itself in a different way. As always, there was depth. But this time, there was also a lightness. More laughter, more play, more of those unplanned, joyful moments that became core memories.

What made both journeys so special was not just the place, but the people. How quickly strangers became friends, how open everyone was to the experience, and how something meaningful unfolded in ways we couldn’t have planned.

There is a certain kind of magic here. The kind you feel more than you can explain. And each time we return, it becomes something new.

The Path of the Himalayan Yogis: Dunagiri, Uttarakhand

5 Nights, 6 Days | April 2026

Set high in the Kumaon Himalayas, Dunagiri held a quieter, more inward energy. Surrounded by forests, temples, and ancient paths, there was a natural stillness to this place that gently invited us to slow down, breathe deeper, and listen.

This journey wasn’t about covering ground, but about arriving more fully. Days moved slowly through daily practice with Harshvardhan, including meditation and Kriya Yoga, along with time in nature and visits to sacred sites like Mahavatar Babaji’s Cave and the Sukhadevi temple. There was space to walk, rest, reflect, and simply be held by the rhythm of the land.

And then there were moments we couldn’t have planned. The full Himalayan range revealing itself in all its vastness. A sky that felt almost unreal. A full rainbow stretching across the valley. The kind of beauty that makes you pause without even realising it.

We stayed at a mountain sanctuary with sweeping views, nourished by simple Ayurvedic vegan Kumaoni meals made with local, seasonal ingredients. Evenings unfolded around shared meals, quiet conversations, and moments of stillness.

There was something deeply grounding about this experience. Rooted in practice, in lineage, and in the energy of the land itself.

What stayed with us most was the feeling this place left behind. Slower, quieter, more connected. The kind of shift that is hard to explain, but easy to feel.

The Feeling in Frames

A glimpse into what we lived

Stories Shared, Hearts Opened

Testimonies not just of place, but of what moved within

"Hey love - i just wanted to genuinely thank you from the bottom of my heart for such an amazing trip to Kasar Devi. Coming back here really put into perspective even more how magical the trip was - at least for me. The energy was so powerful. Honestly words will never do justice for how I feel about everything and how much it meant to me and still means to me. I feel very fortunate and blessed and hope to go on more adventures with you "

Why I Started Roots & Retreats

Roots & Retreats wasn’t born from a business plan - it began as a quiet feeling.

Hi, I’m Rhea.

My journey with the Himalayas began on a trip with my father, drawn by a shared fascination with the mountains and the stories of sages who once walked these ridges. A few months later, I returned with friends for two weeks… and stayed five months. It wasn’t just the beauty that drew me in, it was the stillness, the rhythm of life, and the way the land quietly invites you inward. That’s how I’ve always loved to travel: not as a tourist, but as a listener, getting to know the people, the culture, and the land beneath my feet.

Over the years, this way of traveling deepened. I’ve cooked with local families, hiked sacred trails, and sat with herbalists, naturalists, artists, and wisdom keepers, in the mountains, along the coast, and everywhere in between. Each journey reminded me:

“More people need to experience this, not just for the landscape, but for the way it rewires how you listen, feel, and move through the world.”

That’s how Roots & Retreats came to life, not from a business plan, but as a heartfelt offering. A space for slower, more meaningful travel. For creative expression, nature-based practice, and soulful reconnection.

From the high stillness of the Himalayas to the wild cliffs of Goa, I curate journeys that blend wellness, storytelling, and place - guided by the land and shaped in collaboration with incredible teachers, artists, and healers.

Each retreat is designed as a pause.. to listen deeply, move gently, and come home to yourself.

I’d be honoured to walk that path with you.

With love,

Rhea
